MONEYGALL
County Finals: Huge congratulations this week to our intermediate hurling and camogie panels and management teams, who were both crowned county champions on an unforgettable weekend for our parish.
The hurlers beat Ballingarry by a single point on Saturday afternoon in Templetuohy. Some superb individual performances and a great collective determination on the day got us over the line, to bring to an end eight years in the intermediate ranks.
The girls followed up with another great team performance on Sunday, beating Moycarkey Borris by two points in the county camogie grounds.
The team now advances to the Munster championship in the coming weeks and returns to the senior ranks for 2025.
Captains Paddy Fogarty and Edwina King led their teams out for a joint homecoming on Sunday evening, bringing to an end gaps of 33 years (hurling) and 19 years (camogie) since our previous successes in these championships.
We say a big well done and thanks to the players, backroom teams and volunteers around both panels. We also express a sincere thanks to all the local businesses, community groups, clubs and individuals who have provided so much generous sponsorship, support and messages of goodwill in recent weeks.
A special thanks too to all our supporters who showed up in such huge numbers on both days and who have been proudly displaying the club colours all around the locality. The parish was bedecked in black and red for what turned out to be a truly memorable and historic weekend for our community, and the colours will continue to fly high for some time to come.
Under 21: Moneygall/Clonakenny have been drawn in a group with Newport, Borrisokane, and Ballinahinch/Templederry in the North U21 B hurling championship. Our first match will be away to Newport this Sunday.

MOYCARKEY BORRIS

Commiserations to our intermediate ladies who lost out by two points to a strong Moneygall side.
Our Junior team look forward to a semi final against Holycross in the next two weeks.
LOUGHMORE CASTLEINEY
County Hurling Champions!! Huge congratulations to our Senior Hurling Team and Management who secured victory over Toomevara on Sunday to lift the Dan Breen for the fifth time in the history of the club.
This was a unique final, Toomevara and ourselves had never before met at the final hurdle and the match was fitting of a County final.
Every ball was fought for and there was no easy scores conceded. 12 points to 10 in our favour at half time but really the score board didn’t reflect the ferocity of the battle.
Toomevara may not have been in a final for a number of years but they played as if it was something that they do every day. With just 6 minutes of normal time remaining we led 0-19 to 0-17 but then the two young substitutes who had just been introduced.
Paul McCahey and Eoin O Connell combined in a move which put Paul in possession on the edge of the square and he made no mistake with a powerful drive beyond the goalkeeper.
Toomevara answered quickly through one of their subs, Conor O Meara flicking a ball out of a ruck for a 3 pointer but the last act fell to Man of the Match John McGrath who dispossessed a defender near the end line and held off another tackle to somehow shake the net and confirm our win.
The final score was 2-19 to 1-17 and Liam McGrath accepted the Dan Breen on behalf of a wonderful bunch of young men who have done their parish proud this year. And it’s not over yet.
Next Saturday our Junior Football team face neighbours JK Brackens in the Ragg at 3.30 in the Premier Junior County Final and on Sunday the Seniors are back in the Stadium to take on Clonmel Commercials. These lads deserve our support as they give us so much pleasure throughout the year.
