Ballingarry Community Café has reached the 1st anniversary of the opening of the café, which was officially launched by Minister Mary Butler, Minister for Mental Health and Older People and local Councillor Imelda Goldsboro, on Sunday October 22, at 11am.
Councillor Imelda Goldsboro welcomed everyone present on this special occasion.
Imelda saw a need for such a development in the community and from a simple idea initially she saw it through to what it has become by sheer hard work and by including like-minded people in this volunteer-led venture.
People from every section of the parish, male and female, young and old, lent their support and rowed in to make it the reality that it is today.
The Minister agreed that such a project as this is so necessary in any vibrant community where people from the locality can visit this centre, if only for a cup of coffee or tea and a chat, especially for older people and their neighbours.
The café is open for business on Thursday next from 10am to 2:30pm.
Breakfast is served from 10am to 12pm.
From there to close of business, dinner is served.
Soup, desserts, baps etc are also on the menu, along with a selection of coffees, teas and scones.
To celebrate this special occasion, the café are offering a 3-course meal for €15 on Thursday, October 24, which includes soup, main course, and dessert.
There is also a free raffle on the day.
