Beautiful Holycross Abbey is a gem in the heart of Tipperary.

Holycross Abbey has been at the heart of village life in the tranquil Tipperary village for decades and the news was greeted with shock locally that the Abbey will now be closing earlier in the evenings due to recent anti-social behavior.

Each year thousands of pilgrims make their way to the Abbey to pray and celebrate mass at a fantastic Abbey that will now be closed earlier in the evenings over the winter.

"Unfortunately due to recent antisocial behaviour and vandalism in the grounds of Holycross Abbey and the Village, we are being forced to lock the Abbey at 6pm each evening for the foreseeable future," a statement read.

Those in the area were asked to keep an eye out for behavior that is of concern in the area: "Apologies for the inconvenience. If you see anything of concern, please contact the local Gardai 0504-43222 or the Parish Office 0504-43124" the statement concluded.
