Sports club in rural Tipperary community purchases and installs outdoor defibrillator

The new outdoor difibrillator at Cloneen Sports & Social Club

Cloneen Sports & Social Club has purchased and installed a life saving AED machine and fully heated storage cabinet box that is erected on the centre's exterior wall.
The Club thanks all who supported the purchase of this defibrillator including its main sponsors SAS Agri Services, Paul Gahan Construction, Cuddihy’s Sawmills, Richard O'Brien Electrical and William O'Brien.
The Club was delighted to have representatives from the National Ambulance Service Managers James Ward and Tom Gahan at the installation of the AED machine.
Fethard Community First Responders are a group of trained volunteers, who are now active in the wider Fethard area.
The Community First Responders are activated by the National Ambulance Service and cover an area from Lisronagh to Drangan and from Killusty to Killenaule.
There are a number of Responders in the Cloneen area.
Cloneen Sports & Social Club said it was great to now have another defibrillator in an outdoor heated cabinet and available to anyone to use in the event of a cardiac arrest.
Once a 999 call is made, the caller can be directed to the nearest defibrillator in their community. The local First Responders are activated helping to ensure the chain of survival is intact, giving the patient the best chance of survival.
The Club thanks all its committee members for volunteering their time and particularly two members Michelle Outram and Julieann Smyth-Gahan who are also First Responders in the area.
