Two Carrick-on-Suir clubs for children and a charity for children diagnosed with cancer have received donations worth close to €6,000 from Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club.
The proceeds of Carrick Lions Club's recent annual sponsored walk were presented to Carrick-on-Suir Scouts and Carrick-on-Suir Athletics Club's at the Club's October meeting in the Carraig Hotel.
A cheque for €1,400 was presented to Carrick-on-Suir Scouts Group Leader Sheila Power while Laura Comerford and Ray Daly of Carrick-on-Suir AC were presented with a cheque €1,000. The donations will be used to purchase equipment for both clubs.
Meanwhile, a €3,500 cheque was presented to new Lions Club members Sonja O'Connor and Sandra Keyes representing Childhood Cancer Ireland and will be presented to the charity at another date.
