Carrick-on-Suir Library talk gave advice on healthy ageing

Pharmacist Dr Sabine Eggers gave an interesting in-depth talk on Healthy Ageing in Carrick-on-Suir Library on October 23.

She covered a huge range of health related issues that often present in people’s later years.

With the back-up of a detailed screen presentation, Dr Eggers explained the importance of maintaining physical, mental and social well-being as we age and the significance of monitoring our blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels, eye health, foot care and mouth care.

She advised people to avail of the health screening checks available.

She also emphasised the benefits of regular exercise, sleep, a healthy balanced diet and gave advice on when a nutritional supplement may be helpful outlining how this impacted on the various body organs to maintain good health.

At the end of the talk, Dr Eggers answered questions from those who attended the event.
