Loughmore Castleiney opponents confirmed for upcoming Munster championship games

The Tipperary representatives in senior hurling and football will travel away to both games in a repeat of 2021 clashes

As the Munster club championship rolls on the Tipperary representatives in senior hurling and football, Loughmore Castleiney, now know who they will be playing as fixtures have been made for their upcoming games following the Munster football quarter final at the weekend.

Next Sunday afternoon, at 1.15pm, the Leahy and Dan Breen cup winners Loughmore will play Ballygunner in a repeat of their last hurling match in the Munster championship back in 2021 when both Noel and John McGrath were sent off in the game much to the ire of supporters of the Tipperary side.

The Waterford side won narrowly that day in Deise country, and went on to win the club hurling All-Ireland final afterwards so the Tipperary side will not lack for historical motivation regarding the fixture.

The following weekend the same set of players from Loughmore will play football against Éire Óg of Ennis at a Clare venue - on November 24th - in what is also a repeat of their 2021 clash.

That year the Tipperary representatives lost after extra time at Cusack Park in what was an exciting game of football but the home side just edged it in the end.

At the weekend just gone the Ennis side defeated Limerick representatives Adare on a scoreline of 2-8 to 0-9 so interestingly Loughmore Castleiney will play the same opponents as they did in 2021 and they play away from home once again in both codes.

The word from the Tipperary side is that all players are fit and reporting for action with former Tipperary dual star John Meagher, who was centre back on both teams for many years, now also available for club duty as he has returned home from time spent abroad.

Cashel King Cormacs (intermediate) and Moyle Rovers (junior) will also be in action next weekend in their respective Munster hurling championships while Aherlow will have a home semi final for their upcoming Munster intermediate football semi final.
