Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society announced details of its next annual musical – The Addams Family – at a launch event for the show at the Strand Theatre last Thursday.
Preparations for the Society’s main show for 2025 have begun hot-on-the heels of the final curtains falling on its hugely successful panto – SHwREK’d.
An estimated 50 Musical Society members and prospective new members attended The Addams Family launch night at the theatre’s Christy’s Bar where information was provided on the show, its cast, up coming auditions and the start of rehearsals.
The Addams Family is a musical comedy about a ghoulish family with a love for the macabre.
The show based on the famous cartoon characters created by Charles Addams and portrayed in several film and TV productions, will be staged at the Strand Theatre from March 31 to April 5 next year.
Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society PRO Siobhán Grace-Regan was delighted with the turnout of experienced members and newer performers for the launch event who were welcomed by the show’s production manager Padraig Sheehan.
“This show has a big ensemble cast and we want to get the message out that we need cast members of all ages. There are about 10 principal parts. It will be a really fun show,” she said.
Andrew Holden from Waterford will direct The Addams Family taking over from Martin McNelis who directed Carrick Musical Society’s last three annual shows.
Fergal Carroll is the musical director, Eamon O’Malley is the chorus master, Keith Dwyer-Greene is the choreographer while John O’Donoghue is the set designer.
Siobhán said performers interested in joining The Addams Family cast must be paid up members of Carrick Musical Society and must attend the four choral rehearsals planned before the Christmas.
The first choral rehearsal takes place this Wednesday, November 13 at the Strand Theatre at 7.30pm. Audition material will be available at the rehearsal.
Auditions for the musical take place in the Strand Theatre on Sunday, December 15.
