A map showing the types of road carriageway proposed for the new N24 from Cahir to Limerick Junction and onto Oola.
The upgraded 37km section of the N24 between Cahir and Limerick Junction will be a three lane road in the rural sections and a dual carriageway on the Tipperary Town Bypass section.
There were concerns the upgraded national route would be a single carriageway but Tipperary County Council has confirmed most of the new N24 will be a Type 3 Divided Road with two lanes in one direction and one lane in the other direction divided by a central solid steel barrier.
Tipperary County Council Senior Roads Engineer John Nolan said the new N24 from west of Brooks Bridge to Limerick Junction Roundabout will be a Type 3 Divided Road.
The N24 from the Limerick Junction Roundabout to N74 Cashel Road Roundabout will be a Type 2 Divided Road, which means it will be two lanes in each direction.
And the new N24 from the N74 Cashel Road Roundabout to Junction 10 on the M8 Motorway at Cahir will be a Type 3 Divided Road.
