A new Christmas festival centred on Carrick-on-Suir's Ormond Castle quarter and including the town’s famous illuminated tractors parade will take place on Saturday, December 14.

The Tractors & Tudors Festival is a major collaboration between a wide range of civic and community groups aimed at bringing thousands of visitors into Carrick-on-Suir throughout that day.

The festivities will kick off at 11am and continue until 8pm and will range from amusements, a Santa’s grotto and special tours of Ormond Castle to a Beat Fleet Street Party and official launches of a new sculpture at Castle Park and Carrick-on-Suir’s Quest tourist map.

The centre piece of the festival will be the annual Christmas Tractors of Carrick-on-Suir Parade of fairy light festooned tractors, which kicks off in the Piltown area around 5pm and will travel Fiddown, Portlaw, Clonea-Power and Rathgormack before heading to Carrick-on-Suir where it will pass through the town’s main streets.

The pageant will also include a Kiddies Tractor Parade for children on pedal tractors from Castle Street to Kickham Street.
