Cllr Michael 'Chicken' Brennan, who is the Labour Party's Tipperary South candidate, is pictured above meeting one of the county's oldest Labour Party members during, Edwin Fitzgerald, while on the campaign trail in the Clonmel area.

Edwin, who is aged in his mid-90s, is a retired trade union official and long-time member of the Labour Party's Clonmel branch. Clonmel Town Hall, of course, is where the Labour Party was founded in 1912.

The sprightly pensioner is well-known in hiking circles and has not let his age stop him from trekking the five stages of the 115km St Declan's Way Walk from Cashel to Ardmore every year.
