Tipp senior hurler and camogie player amongst Premier trio to receive UCC scholarship

Three talented GAA players from Tipperary have been selected as part of the University College Cork (UCC) Sport Scholarship Programme for 2024-2025, joining a total of 86 student-athletes to receive this prestigious recognition.

The recipients include Eimear Heffernan, a camogie player from Kilfeacle studying Agricultural Science, as well as hurlers Peter McGarry (Arts) from Fethard and Darragh Stakelum (Commerce) from Thurles.

This year’s scholarship programme celebrates 86 athletes spanning 15 sports and representing 10 counties, including Cork, Dublin, Kilkenny, Kerry, Mayo, Laois, Waterford, Tipperary, Limerick, and Offaly. The diverse range of sports includes athletics, basketball, golf, rugby, hockey, rowing, soccer, GAA, and kickboxing.
