Mayor of Clonmel Michael Murphy in strong contention to be elected in Tipperary South

Cllr Michael Murphy remains in strong contention to take a seat for Fine Gael in Tipperary South.

With 68 percent of the votes, or 108 boxes tallied, Cllr Murphy has 21 percent of the vote, or 5,540 votes.

That puts him in second place behind sitting TD Mattie McGrath, who has 24.6 percent, or 6,469 votes.

Cllr Murphy's tallied votes in the Clonmel Local Electoral Area (LEA) are 2,632, 1,427 in the Cashel Tipperary LEA, 837 in the Carrick-on-Suir LEA and 644 in the Cahir LEA.
