Monday, December 16, 2024 marks a significant day in the life of Fennor Co-operative Creamery.
On this day, John Murphy, Chairman of Tirlán, together with the present day committee and members will unveil a plaque to mark the existence of 125 years of the creamery.
After the unveiling of this plaque, a booklet outlining the history of Fennor Co-operative will be launched in Gortnahoe Community Hall at 2:30pm.
A welcome is extended to everyone who would like to come along and share in this special occasion.
This celebration will give everyone an opportunity to reflect and recall the generations of hard work, resilience, community spirit and foresight that resulted in the founding of the creamery.
Looking at the members of the founding committee, many of their descendants served on subsequent committees at Fennor and still do today.
The farmers of the Fennor Creamery Co-operative who set up their co-operative in 1899 laid the foundation for the important farmer controlled dairy industry in the area today.
The Fennor Committee extends a very warm welcome to everyone in the parish and surrounding areas to come along to Gortnahoe Community Hall and join them for refreshments as they travel down memory lane recalling the pioneers who served the farming community so well back through the decades.
An opportunity to meet old friends, remember good neighbours and recall life as it was in yesteryear.
