Moyne Athletic Club honours top athletes after a fantastic season of high achievement

Moyne Community Hall was the setting for Moyne AC awards on Friday night last as the club honoured their athletes from the 2024 indoor, track, road and cross country seasons from County to National level. 

Club Chairperson Eibhlis Purcell opened proceedings with a few words to recap on 2024. On the night all athletes were acknowledged for their commitment to training and competing with a certificate which was presented by National U23 indoor and outdoor double gold medalist Katie Bergin.

Medals that were won at Munster and National level which were returned to the committee were presented on the night. Individual awards for 2023 and 2024 were also presented while Katie Bergin was honoured for all her achievements to date. 

List of individual award winners for 2023 and 2024 season:

2023:

U9-U13 Cross Country Athlete of the Year: Matthew Esmonde.

U9-U13 Track & Field Athlete of the Year: Lily Murphy.

U14-U19 Cross Country Athlete of the Year: Kate Delaney.

U14-U19 Track & Field Athlete of the Year: Maria Doyle. 

Senior Road & Cross Country Athlete of the Year: Louise Fogarty.

Senior Track & Field Athlete of the Year: Katie Bergin. 

Most Improved Athlete of the Year: U10 Girls 4x100m Relay Team.

2023 Overall Athlete of the Year: Katie Bergin. 

2024:

U9-U13 XC Athlete of the Year: Matthew Esmonde. 

U9-U13 Track & Field Athlete of the Year: Lily Murphy. 

U14-U19 XC Athlete of the Year: Gerard Delaney. 

U14-U19 Track & Field Athlete of the Year: Alana Spillane. 

Senior Road & XC Athlete of the Year: Sharon Cantwell.

Senior Track & Field Athlete of the Year: Katie Bergin.

Most Improved Athlete of the Year: Michael Doyle.
