Former Tipperary All-Ireland winning player Eddie Enright is the toast of Cork club hurling this week, after leading Watergrasshill to the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling title in Croke Park on Sunday.

The Thurles Sarsfields native was a key cog in Nicky English's 2001 All-Ireland winning Tipperary team, and he added another All-Ireland title to his CV, this time as a coach of the Cork side who had a dramatic late win over Tynagh Abbey-Duniry.

Speaking to EchoLive of Cork on the pitch after the victory, Enright hailed the players and also referenced the 22-year gap between All-Ireland glory days in Croke Park!

“It took 22 years so I wouldn't say it was overnight, that's for sure!” Enright said.

“This should rubber- stamp it. Look, the family are there and we love the community down there, Watergrasshill and Glenville are just so supportive for everything we did and I couldn't believe the crowd here for a small place.

“Today was our 150th session, our 150th gathering, and I'm incredibly proud. I think the way that they play has inspired the community and it's full-on.

"You bring that intensity to it, you bring that kind of want and people will follow you and the team has been followed right from the start from that Carrigaline match right to here, we've had tremendous support."
