Rockwell College has officially announced the captains for its Senior and Junior Cup rugby teams as they prepare for their 2025 campaigns, sparking excitement within the school community.
For the Senior Cup Team, Lucas Shiel and Ralph Kerry will co-captain the team, while Cameron Fitzpatrick and Robert Carrigan will lead the Junior Cup Team. The teams are now in the final stages of their preparations under the expert guidance of their coaches and Head of Rugby Kevin Leamy, who has played a key role in shaping the teams’ development.
The Senior Cup Team’s first match will take place on Wednesday, 29th January 2025, at Fethard Town Park against Bandon Grammar School, while the Junior Cup Team will begin their campaign on Monday, 5th February 2025, at Fethard Town Park against Castletroy Community School.
Principal Audrey O’Byrne congratulated the captains and expressed her enthusiasm for the season ahead: "This is an exciting time for the teams, the school, and the students.
"It’s always wonderful to see our Rockwell College community come together to support them. We are proud of the dedication and commitment from everyone involved, and we wish both teams the very best in their campaigns."
The announcement of the captains marks a key moment in the school’s rugby calendar, as the Senior and Junior teams prepare to compete in what promises to be an action-packed series of matches leading up to the School Cup finals.
Rockwell College’s rugby programme has long been a source of pride, with strong performances year after year, and the commitment of these captains is a testament to its ongoing success.
