Pat Shortt has hilarious response after being accused of being from Limerick
Pat Shortt had a hilarious response to a Tipperary Live story that revealed locals were "up in arms" over the Irish Independent claiming the comedian was "from Limerick."
Tipperary people were quick to vent at the Irish Independent on Wednesday evening after the paper claimed Pat was from the Treaty county.
In a post directing to an article about the Thurles man's interview with the paper in which he discussed his earliest memories, the Indo claimed: "Pat Shortt is an actor and comedian from Co Limerick. He is known for starring in The Guard, Killinaskully and The Banshees of Inisherin."
They later claimed he only "lives in Thurles, Co Tipperary with his family." He actually lives in Limerick but is of course a Tipperary man.

One person blasted: "Irish independent, get your facts correct. Pat Shortt is from Thurles, Co Tipperary, and now living in Limerick. Very shoddy journalism."
Another commenter was amused by the outrage, adding: "It's so funny to see the indignation in the comments because the article says he's from Limerick and not Thurles. Such Irishness."

Pat was on Today FM with Ray Foley on Thursday and was asked live on air to respond to the Tipperary Live article about the debacle. He admitted he had received "a weird text from his wife" asking if he had a second family in Thurles.
"I got a very weird text from my wife this morning to say, 'are you living with another family in Thurles?'" Pat joked.
"I think the Independent said I live with my family in Thurles. I don't, I live with my family in Limerick," Pat said, but clarified, "I am a Tipp man."
"Disinformation," Pat said in response to being claimed as "from Limerick," as Foley joked, "disinformation is rife."
Pat concluded: "I didn't know there was a controversy going on around me down in Tipperary." You can watch the clip of Pat on the Today FM show here.
It's a serious matter being misidentified as a Limerick man, especially for a proud Tipp man and hurling fan. Pat has often been pictured in the Tipperary colours, even heralding the death of Kilkenny hurling after Tipperary won the 2014 All-Ireland final.
