Tipperary councillor is nominated by Taoiseach to take seat in Seanad Éireann

Ballingarry Fianna Fáil Cllr Imelda Goldsboro is one of Taoiseach Micheál Martin's 11 nominees to the Seanad. 

The nominations for the final 11 Seanad seats were announced this evening. 

Cllr Goldsboro was in contention for the third Dáil seat in Tipperary South in the recent General Election but lost out to Independent Seamus Healy in the final count. 

She also missed out on securing an Agricultural Panel seat in the Seanad election that concluded on Monday. 

Her elevation to the Oireachtas' upper house is a significant boost for the Fianna Fáil Party in Tipperary South. The party's last south Tipperary representative in the Oireachtas was Labhrás Ó'Murchú, who served as a senator for 19 years up to 2016. 

She is one of six Fianna Fáil politicians to secure one of Taoiseach Micheál Martin's Seanad nominations.
