A moving funeral mass took place for the late Marguerite O'Halloran at St. Michael’s Church in Tipperary Town on Friday February 7.

Family, friends and neighbours gathered to pay tribute to the mother of four, who was the victim of a tragic house fire in Tipperary which occurred over the previous Bank Holiday weekend.

The service featured poignant displays of how loved and adored Marguerite was to those who knew her.

During the Mass, Parish Priest Fr Eugene Everard spoke about how Marguerite was “a woman filled with beauty and goodness” who will be remembered and missed dearly by those who knew her.

Fr Everard said: “Marguerite was pre-deceased by her father Ned and will be deeply mourned by her loving children; Mikey, Conor, Aoife & Jack, husband Toddy, mother Kitty, brother Jimmy, her extended family, relatives and friends.”

Fr Everard said it was clear from Marguerite’s love of animals that she was a caring and kind person, he spoke of her love for her cat Ginger who sadly passed away in the same circumstances as herself.

“Marguerite was part of a close-knit community who look out for one another” said Fr Everard.

Fr Everard also paid tribute to the emergency services in Tipperary Town who did all they could and acknowledged that they have a difficult job in keeping the community safe.

Marguerite’s four children Mikey, Conor, Aoife & Jack all paid poignant tributes to their much loved mother.

Marguerite’s sons said how proud they were to have Marguerite as a mother and they thanked everyone for their kindness in the days after her passing. They told a story of Marguerite’s first client at her dog grooming business when she first started: “The first dog she groomed could have been mistaken for a sheep” said one of her sons, remembering his mother fondly.

“I will miss you on the sidelines, we’ll take care of granny if you take care of grandad.” said another of Marguerite’s sons.

Marguerite’s beloved daughter Aoife spoke of how proud she was to be her mother’s daughter and all children expressed the love they felt for their dear mother.

In a moving tribute posted after her death, Cllr John O’Heney who had the pleasure of knowing Marguerite said: "Marguerite was a gentle and kind soul. Every time I had the pleasure of speaking to her she always spoke so proudly of her children and their achievements: Mikey, Connie, Aoife and Jack.

"To her husband Toddy, mother Kitty, brother Jimmy, her extended family, relatives and friends. She will be fondly remembered and missed by many.”
