The meeting will consider what the community can do, themselves or working together with service providers, to help secure a healthy and safe community for everyone
The scourge of substance misuse is widespread and should be talked about openly to see how it could be tackled, according to Clonmel’s Mayor Pat English.
A public meeting on substance use in Clonmel will be held at the Talbot Hotel from 7pm to 9pm next Wednesday evening, March 5.

Next week’s public meeting is a follow-on from Clonmel Community Conversations, organised by Tipperary County Council, about substance use that took place with four groups in Clonmel towards the end of 2023 and April of 2024.
The four groups are businesses and hospitality; clubs and groups; people with a lived experience, and parents and schools.
The Community Conversations is an action from the Substance Use Alliance and the purpose is to explore the experience of substance use among each of the groups.
It will also consider what the community can do, themselves or working together with service providers, to help secure a healthy and safe community for everyone.
The objectives from the meeting are to report back on what the community said at the four different Community Conversations held in the autumn of 2023 and spring 2024; to hear what is happening in response to what the community said; and to look at how members of the community can stay involved and informed about the actions being taken.
All are welcome to attend next week’s meeting’s public meeting.
