There are 18 camper van spaces within Suir Island car park in Clonmel
More camper van spaces should be rolled at the Suir Island car park in Clonmel, Cllr Siobhán Ambrose stated at a meeting of Clonmel Borough District.
She said that the 12 camper van sites at the car park had been very successful, and people who had stayed there were very impressed with the facility.
There were 18 camper van spaces within Suir Island car park, three of which had been taken over by the Suir Island Gardens contractors site compound, a report to the meeting by District Engineer Gillian Flynn stated.
“The Suir Island Infrastructure Links project is currently with An Bord Pleanála for consideration. This project proposes to remove the existing 33 spaces on the Quay and it is anticipated that the users will be accommodated in the Suir Island car park.

“Typically, the 15 available spaces are sufficient to accommodate weekly camper van demand. It is only on festival weekends such as St Patrick’s Day that the site reaches capacity.
“On the occasions that there aren’t enough designated camper van spaces, the additional camper vans use the car parking spaces.
“The council wishes to retain the existing number of spaces and continue to allow any additional camper vans to use the car parking spaces.
“The three bays within the Suir Plants compound will be brought back to use in June,” the report added.
