Office with 25 employees, all living locally, is strategically important for Arachas and breathes life back into the town

Arachas, the country's largest nationwide insurance broker with over 700 employees, has officially opened its new office in Tipperary Town in the historic Irish House building.

The move comes as Arachas is expanding its network of offices nationwide with over 70 people now working for Arachas in the Mid West region.

Arachas prides itself on being a community-based employer and the opening of the historic building fits with that strategy and 25 local employees will be based in the newly refurbished office.

Tipperary is strategically important for Arachas and the opening of the office will help serve the businesses and consumers of Tipp town and the surrounding areas with local staff working from a central and historically significant building.

The company was aware of the local concern for the building and is delighted to have given it a new lease of life as the newest office in the network.

The building was not occupied for a number of years and the renovation project, which cost several hundred thousand euros, was completed with the aid of the Tipperary Revitalisation Group.

Arachas has been increasing its footprint in the Mid West, with a series of acquisitions of quality businesses over the past few years including Hooper Dolan in 2021, followed by O’Malley Griffin two years ago, Tom Fogarty Insurances in Tipperary Town last year and most recently Gerry O’ Mahony Insurances in Limerick.

New premises at the heart of Tipperary Town were needed to house a growing Arachas team with an expanded book of business.

The Irish House was built in 1890 and has a long history associated with the town and has a plaque of Padraig Pearse on the ground floor and the former shop's future featured in Dail debates 100 years ago in June 1925.

The official opening was carried out by Arachas’s brand Ambassador, Seán Óg Ó hAilpín.

Daniel Hennessy, Regional Director, Mid West, Arachas said: "This is an important day for both Arachas and Tipperary Town. We are delighted to have restored and reopened the Irish House which has such a long and significant history.

"We have shown commitment to Tipp Town and all our employees live locally, within, 30km, so we now ask the businesses and people of Tipperary to support this local venture and drop into us or call us when you are renewing your insurance products this year.

"Our local staff will be able to talk you through all your insurance needs and we are part of an international network which allows us to source more insurance products at competitive rates.

"In particular, we note the demand for construction, hospitality and farming insurance from our business customers in Tipperary along with the motor and household insurance products from local people."
