The CARE Cancer Support Centre in Clonmel has evolved in line with the needs of the community over the years

The CARE Cancer Support Centre in Wellington Street, Clonmel, would like to thank most sincerely everyone who made their recent Gala Lunch Fundraiser such a resounding success.

With this being their first such event in almost six years, they were hoping that it would be a memorable and enjoyable occasion.

Thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers and helpers who worked tirelessly for weeks in advance, the whole event came together in a seamless manner on the day.

From the moment people entered the Talbot Hotel foyer, the atmosphere was very welcoming and inviting.

The centre owes a huge debt of gratitude to the Fifth Year students from Loreto Secondary School - Anna Mai, Doireann, Kate and Tara - who provided some beautiful music and singing at the welcome reception.

They performed beautifully, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the guests.

They represented their school with great enthusiasm and pride.

Thanks are extended to their teacher, Patricia O’Mahoney, for organising this part of the reception.

The MC for the day, Breda Kavanagh, thanked and welcomed everyone on behalf of CARE and outlined the importance of these fundraising events in order to maintain the vital services that the centre provides for people and their families who are affected by cancer.

She gave a brief outline of the history of the centre and how it has evolved in line with the needs of the community over the years.

Chairman, Paddy Derivan, paid tribute to the staff and to all of the volunteers who give so much of their time in an unselfish and caring manner, be it as a trustee or as a complementary therapist, and without whom the centre could not operate.

Their contribution to CARE is immeasurable.

Paddy went on to thank everyone who made the event possible, either by making a very generous donation or by sponsoring one of the many beautiful spot prizes that were distributed during the raffle.

The centre cannot thank all the sponsors enough for making the event so special.

A full list of all the sponsors was on display during the day throughout the venue, and Paddy actively encouraged all present to support these local businesses as much as possible.

The events team at the Talbot Hotel, under the guidance of Laura, went above and beyond in making the event such a success.
Their attention to detail and the service provided was a credit to all concerned and for this the centre is very grateful.

Feedback after the event from all present was very positive indeed, and already plans are under way for next year.

To all the guests present on the day, thanks are extended for their attendance and support.

The centre looks forward to welcoming you all back again in 2026.
