RIP: Tributes paid after passing of popular Tipperary priest famous for a 'quick' Mass

Very Rev. Walter Canon Harris P.E. Blanchardstown, Dublin / Killester, Dublin / Kilsheelan, Tipperary

Condolences to the Arrigan family on the recent passing of Fr Walter Canon Harris, former parish priest of Blanchardstown and Kilmore West, he also served in Dundrum, Arklow, Drumcondra, Ballyboughal and Donnycarney.

Walter went to Kilsheelan National School and never forgot his ties with the parish and tutored many players who were studying in Dublin, he was also a keen Tipperary supporter all his life and Micheāl Ó Muircheartaigh mentioned in his memoir that on an All-Ireland Sunday he would always go to Walter's Mass as it would be quick.

Very Rev Walter Canon Harris PE (Killester, Dublin. Former Parish Priest of Blanchardstown and Kilmore West and former curate in Drumcondra, Arklow, Dundrum, Ballyboughal and Donnycarney parishes) passed away on May 12, 2025 peacefully in the care of the staff at Four Ferns Nursing Home, Foxrock.

Beloved son of the late Eileen (née Arrigan) and Walter.

Pre-deceased by his brother Noel, sister Miriam, cousins Elsie (Cooney), Emmet (Arrigan) and Liam (Arrigan).

Sadly missed by his cousins Needy (Spain), Nell (Keating) and John (Arrigan), Archbishop Dermot Farrell, priests of the Dublin archdiocese, parishioners and wider circle of relatives and friends.
