Brendán O’Neill, from Listowel, County Kerry will be running a marathon in Tipperary on August 20 to raise funds for a charity challenging homelessness.

The avid runner will be running 32 marathons in 32 days — one in every county in Ireland — to raise funds for Focus Ireland and support their work with individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Brendán begins his marathon fundraiser in Antrim on July 23 and will finish in Kerry on August 23. He will run a marathon taking place in Tipperary in and around the Templemore area on August 20.

Brendán has said that he'd love for people to join him, and he has contacted running clubs across the country to let them know about his fundraiser.

"I will be camping out for the full 32 days too, I want to put myself through the mindset of someone experiencing homelessness," says Brendán.

Brendán says that he was inspired to raise funds for this charity after he heard a shocking statistic in 2022.

"I remember hearing in 2022 that there was 10,000 homeless people in Ireland. That figure has now risen to almost 16,000, in such a short space of time. My motto is I want to put pain behind purpose. That's my motivation to do this," he concludes.
