Deputy Michael Lowry
Tipperary TD Michael Lowry has warmly welcomed the revised National Development Plan (NDP), which sets out an unprecedented investment of €275.4 billion between 2026 and 2035.
Deputy Lowry says it is a "bold and ambitious roadmap for Ireland’s future – and a major opportunity to address the infrastructural deficits we have".
He continued: "As part of the Regional Independents group, I have consistently worked to ensure that rural Ireland and counties like Tipperary are at the heart of government priorities. I welcome the constructive engagement we have had with the Government on shaping this plan, and I will continue to work positively and collaboratively to ensure delivery for North Tipperary.

"The updated plan, published by the Government, commits an additional €30 billion as agreed during Government formation talks in capital funding compared to the original 2021–2030 framework. This brings total investment to €102.4 billion over the next five years, with a further €100 billion allocated through to 2035.
"This is the single biggest capital programme in the history of the State. It is about securing Ireland’s future, building strong communities, and delivering the infrastructure that people need and deserve.
"The revised NDP is focused on delivering transformational infrastructure across critical sectors:
* Housing and sustainable communities
* Energy security and climate resilience
* Transport improvements
* Healthcare and disability services
* Education and childcare
"I am particularly encouraged by the strong emphasis on children’s disability services, school places, and a ring-fenced €10 billion for energy, water, and transport. These are practical, targeted measures that will have a lasting positive impact.
"The real test now is action. Each Government Department has been tasked with delivery and accountability. I will remain vigilant in making sure that these commitments turn into tangible results – new housing, better roads, enhanced services, and opportunities for every community including North Tipperary.
"This is a time to be ambitious for our country. With this level of investment, and through continued cooperation between Regional Independents and Government, we can achieve meaningful, lasting change for the people we represent."
