Traffic on the Tipperary to Cahir Road was brought to a standstill on Sunday after a road accident just outside Bansha forced a full closure in both directions.
Cllr John O'Heney said motorists were advised to use alternative routes as emergency services dealt with the incident.
The road is reported to have since reopened.

The incident prompted a wave of reaction online, with many residents raising long-standing concerns about the safety of the stretch of road.
Several highlighted speeding and dangerous overtaking as persistent problems, describing the experience of driving there as "like dicing with death every time".

There was also frustration around the volume of accidents on this route, with locals questioning why it continues to be a hotspot for collisions.
Many residents believe that speeding is "pure and simple" the cause of repeated incidents on this stretch, and they are calling for greater enforcement and awareness to prevent road tragedies.
