There has been mixed reactions online in response to a recent article on Tipperary Live where a parent of an autistic child praised Tipperary hospital staff after a recent encounter.
A parent of a young child with autism had praised staff at Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel for the wonderful care he received while attending the A&E unit recently.
In a Facebook group for the hospital, the anonymous parent praised staff working at the hospital saying that everyone 'went above and beyond that day'.

"Spent the morning in TUH with my Young Autistic man," began the parent.
"From the time we went into A&E , ecg done seen by Archie (nurse) and brought over to MAU by Mark (porter) he was shown and given time to digest what was happening.
"Listen to, given time to process it all, all questions answered, bloods taken by an angel, onto x-ray again super patience by the staff, questions answered. We HAD a lot of questions.

"All the doctors he met and the lead cardiologist went above and beyond today. He wore his ASIAM lanyard almost like a protection, but he was seen and heard.
"Thank you to everyone who soothed our worried minds today. I hope the staff today will see this. We are thankful and grateful."
The Facebook group was established by the Save Our Acute Hospital Services Committee in 2008 and contains helpful information including phone numbers for services in the hospital.
However, despite the positive experience of this parent, since the online publication of this article, other parents of children with autism in Tipperary have shared that they did not have such a positive experience while visiting the local hospital with their children.
One parent who sadly did not have a great experience when bringing her son to A&E said: “I didn’t have the same experience when I brought my child in and he was screaming constantly. They kept closing the door and it took hours. Unbelievable they are. I don't think the hospital is any good, I always had a terrible experience there,” they shared.
Despite the negative comment, one person also commented praising the hospital's staff. “I’ll say it till the day I die the staff nurses doctors support etc are one of the best in the country in Tipperary University Hospital,” said the commenter.
