A property listing of a countryside cottage just outside of Clonmel has sparked on online debate asking one simple question; is this house for sale at a fair price?

The bungalow, in the Ballybeg area of Clonmel, is listed online with an asking price of €140,000.

The listing says that a potential buyer would enjoy peaceful rural setting with scenic views, a cosy solid-fuel fireplace, three bedrooms, a private garden with mature trees, and a 10-minute drive to Clonmel.

Some online viewers are arguing that €140,000 is too high a price considering the amount of work it would take to modernise the home and make it liveable once again.

However, as the propety listing points out, the property has been vacant for over two years which means it could be eligible for a vacant property grant worth up to €80,000.

As of early 2025, the average house price in Tipperary stands at €262,000, almost twice the asking price of this Clonmel property.
