The launch, held on October 1, was attended by An Cathaoirleach, Councillor John Carroll, alongside County Librarian Damien Dullaghan, who presided over the ceremony. Local schoolchildren from Gurtagarry National School and St Mary’s No. 2 National School contributed to the lively atmosphere.
The morning’s proceedings were enlivened by a performance from Arran Towers, the “Big Friendly Giant,” which drew strong applause from the audience.
The Children’s Book Festival, a fixture of Ireland’s cultural calendar since the late 1990s, highlights the role of libraries in community engagement. Nenagh’s programme will run throughout October, with further details to be announced in the coming weeks.
