Evan Lyons (right) played guitar as the award-winning country music singer from Louisiana, Robert Mizzell, sang the American national anthem
It was a day to remember for former Thurles CBS pupil Evan Lyons, who was the guitarist for the rendition of the American national anthem at the Pittsburgh Steelers' 24-21 win over the Minnesota Vikings last month.
Lyons (pictured below) provided the accompaniment for the award-winning country music singer from Louisiana, Robert Mizzell, who sang The Star-Spangled Banner in front of a sold out Croke Park.
The official viewership of the game was 7.9 million viewers, ranking it as the second most-watched NFL Network International Game on record behind only the 2023 Miami Dolphins-Kansas City Chiefs game in Frankfurt, Germany.

Thurles CBS posted on their social media last week to congratulate their past pupil:
"Delighted and proud to see past pupil Evan Lyons in Croke Park at the weekend to accompany Robert Mizzell with the American National Anthem for the NFL game," the school said on Facebook.
"Evan was always a very involved student in our Music Department and is now a very successful musician in Country Music Circles."
