Almost €1m Rural Regeneration & Development Fund grant aid has been allocated towards the transformation of the former Goldcrop site that has lain derelict on Carrick-on-Suir's North Quay for many years.
Fine Gael TD Michael Murphy has welcomed the RRDF grant to support the transformation of this key town centre site in Carrick-on-Suir.
He said the project represents a major step forward for the town and is one of his key local priorities.
“I am absolutely delighted to confirm funding of €984,000 for the Goldcrop Rehabilitation and Regeneration Project in Carrick-on-Suir.
"This is a landmark investment that will rejuvenate a key town centre site and bring new life and energy into the heart of Carrick,” Deputy Murphy said.
“This project has been a top priority for me, and today’s announcement is the culmination of dedicated work by many people locally and nationally. I want to acknowledge the strong partnership between Tipperary County Council, local community representatives, and officials in the Department of Rural and Community Development who worked tirelessly to bring this project to this stage.”
Deputy Murphy said the investment will have far-reaching benefits for Carrick-on-Suir.
“This development will revitalise the town centre, attract new business, increase footfall, and address dereliction – making Carrick-on-Suir an even better place to live, work, and visit. It’s about restoring pride and purpose to the centre of our town.”
“Fine Gael is committed to supporting vibrant rural communities, and this funding – part of a €20.5 million national package – demonstrates our determination to deliver real and lasting improvements in rural towns.”
Deputy Murphy added that the project builds on the vision of former Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys, who championed balanced regional investment.
“When complete, this project will leave a lasting legacy in Carrick-on-Suir – creating a more connected, attractive, and prosperous town centre for future generations.”
