Also attending were many Ambassadors, Heads of State, clergy and An Garda Síochana.

The group wishes to say congratulations to HE Mr Yong-kil Kim and his amazing staff for a magnificent event.

They were treated to beautiful food and refreshments, music of the very highest standards by violinist Junhyung Kang.

He began violin studies at the age of five with Alan Smale, former leader of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and continues under his guidance.

Since 2025, he has also studied with Mia Cooper, leader of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

A music scholar at Wesley College, Dublin, Junhyung has excelled in numerous national competitions and performed widely as a soloist and ensemble musician.

Notable appearances include Bach's Double Violin Concerto with Alan Smale at Wexford Sinfonia's 30th anniversary concert, where the Irish Independent hailed him as a child protégé.

He is currently a member of the RIAM Symphony Orchestra and serves as a Co-Principal Second Violin of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland.

In August 2025, he performed a solo violin recital at the Korea Festival in Ireland, hosted by the Korean Embassy.

Accompanied by Republic of Korea Pianist on the day Soo-jung Ann, she was celebrated for her expressive artistry and technical mastery.

A first prize winner at both the International Telekom Competition Bonn in 2013, and the Maria Canals International Music Competition in 2012, she also received the Artour Benedetti Michelangeli Prize at the piano Academy Eppan in 2013, marking her a leading pianist of her generation.

She has performed with renowned orchestras, including Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and is acclaimed for her interpretations of Beethoven, continuing the tradition of her mentor, Dr John O’Connor.

The group says it was a great honour and privilege for Bridget, Eugene and John to witness a magnificent performance from two great and very talented musicians, a performance that they will never forget.

Members of the committee were very privileged to be recognised for their work in peace, remembrance, and reconciliation in St Mary's International Garden of Remembrance Thurles by so many foreign ambassadors who have recognised their achievements.
