Carrick-on-Suir CRITICAL Community First Responders to host Restart a Heart event

A community group whose members assist people experiencing a medical emergency, is hosting a Restart A Heart Awareness Day featuring demonstrations on CPR and defibrillator use in Carrick-on-Suir this Saturday, October 18.

Carrick-on-Suir CRITICAL Community First Responders Group is inviting the public and members of clubs and organisations to join its members to take part in the awareness day at SuperValu, Greystone Street, Carrick from 10am to 4pm.

“This event is part of our ongoing effort to raise awareness of CPR and the crucial role that early response plays in saving lives,” said Carrick CRITICAL CFR Group coordinator Adam Hunt

“Throughout the day, we’ll be providing information and demonstrations on CPR and defibrillator use and sharing insight into the work carried out by Community First Responders both locally in Carrick-on-Suir and nationally.

The voluntary group was founded in 2023 and works in conjunction with the National Ambulance Service to assist people who experience a medical emergency in Carrick-on-Suir and surrounding communities. It is supported by the CRITICAL emergency medical response charity.

Mr Hunt said the group has responded to more than 200 emergency calls so far this year and is seeking new volunteers to join the team to meet the growing demand for its service.

Anyone interested in becoming a Carrick-on-Suir CRITICAL Community First Responders Group volunteer can contact the group through its Facebook page or speak to one of its members at the Restart a Heart Awareness Day.
