The event, titled Great Was The Darkness, takes place in the castle’s banqueting hall on Tuesday, October 28, at 7pm. It promises a thrilling night of chilling tales from Medieval Ireland, strictly for adults. Admission is free, with booking available by phoning 052 7441011 or online at heritageireland.ie.
The stories will be told by Hannah Mac Auliffe, a Waterford-born, Dublin-based medievalist and PhD graduate of Trinity College Dublin. An expert in Ireland’s medieval past, Ms Mac Auliffe will lead the audience through a “dark, spine-tingling journey” in her talk Great Was The Darkness.
Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW, Kevin “Boxer” Moran, said ‘It is great to see such a diverse range of events on offer at a number of OPW locations throughout the country this October. Families will be in for a fright with a range of ghoulish tours, spooky treasure hunts and other fun activities on offer – there’s truly something for everyone, young and old’
The event forms part of a series of Halloween happenings across OPW heritage sites nationwide. For more information and a full list of venues, visit www.heritageireland.ie
