Tipperary's Cllr David Dunne has moved to dismiss an online claim suggesting that St Brigid's Hospital was being converted into an IPAS centre.
In a post, Cllr Dunne said: "A post appeared on this platform from an anonymous person saying the St Brigid's Hospital was been turned into an IPAS centre.

"From the information I have from TDs and other sources, I can say the story is NOT TRUE. I have made contact with the HSE for a formal statement and will post it as soon as I get it."
He said the campaign to restore services at the hospital was ongoing and urged the community to keep up their efforts.

"The campaign to save our local hospital is not over and the only answer to this is to continue our efforts to return the hospital to what it use for in the pasted," he said.

"How many of our loved ones got the best of care down there whether that be respite care, convenience care or palliative care."
Cllr Dunne added: "I hope this clarifies the situation."
