Tipperary is set to benefit from a share of over €180,000 from the national Community Safety Fund, which redirects money seized from criminals back into local projects to strengthen community safety.

Locally, Tipperary County Council and Youth Work Ireland Tipperary have been awarded €137,750 for the Cashel Traveller Education Initiative, which supports education and engagement within the Traveller community.
Meanwhile, the Killaloe/Ballina Community and Family Resource Centre will receive €45,300 for its Non-Violent Resistant Programme, “Power without Violence,” aimed at promoting safer communities through conflict resolution and education.
The funding comes as part of a nationwide allocation of €4.4 million to 42 community safety projects across Ireland. Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration Jim O’Callaghan said the initiative ensures that the proceeds of crime seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau and An Garda Síochána are reinvested to enhance safety and security in local communities.
“The Community Safety Fund is an important and effective element in achieving stronger, safer communities,” he said. “It demonstrates that the efforts of our Gardaí and law enforcement bodies can directly contribute to building stronger and safer communities.”
The Tipperary projects funded this year focus on education, youth engagement, conflict resolution, and support for marginalised groups, reflecting the broader aim of the Fund to address gaps in community safety at a local level.
With local community safety partnerships being established across the country, funding decisions like these are designed to ensure that crime proceeds make a tangible difference where they are most needed.
