New six-week session starts for young artists in south Tipperary

Nine artworks by group members were sold over the summer

A new late autumn six-week art session for Junior members of the South Tipperary Art Group (STAG) starts this Saturday, November 8 in the Infant School behind Ss Peter and Paul’s Primary School (access is through the school yard) at Kickham Street, Clonmel from 10.30am to 12 noon for budding artists from nine years to Sixth class (Primary Group) and First Years to Leaving Certs (Seniors).

Just four places are left in the Primary Group and six in the Seniors.

To book a place please contact Maureen Purcell, the Organiser of South Tipperary Art Group, STAG at 086-8096823.

There will be a nine-session portfolio course in the Tipperary Museum of Hidden History organised soon by Ellie Kennedy, Clonmel, for art pupils from 15 years up to Leaving Certs.

The group is delighted to see so many new faces, as well as some former members, joining Adult STAG on Tuesday nights in the Infant School, Ss Peter and Paul’s Primary School and on Wednesday mornings upstairs in the studio in the South Tipperary Arts Centre.

The 50-plus adult members now range from 18 years to over 80 years, with more females than males at the moment, and there are many young and older men out there who draw and paint but are a bit shy to join the group. Don’t be, as you’ll be among like-minded people.

Once you have some practical knowledge of drawing/painting, craft etc. and have done art in school or have completed an art course or two, you will be welcomed with open arms.

Nine artworks were sold over the summer, from The Showgrounds Shopping Centre mainly, but also from the display area in Tipperary University Hospital.

STAG artworks are also displayed in Befanis Restaurant and The Leisure Centre, Hotel Minella, all in Clonmel.

Congratulations to Anthony, Carmel, Noreen and Miriam who sold paintings over the last ten days.

To buy an original artwork by STAG members please contact the Organiser at 086-8096823 as there are many more artworks in storage.
