Tipperary branch of political party holds Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of South Tipperary Fianna Fáil CDC took place in The Talbot Hotel, Clonmel on Monday, November 10.

Outgoing Chairperson John Flynn welcomed members from across South Tipperary and proceeded with a tribute to the late Dr Martin Mansergh who had been an Honorary President of South Tipperary Fianna Fáil.

He then gave a brief outline of events and activities under his chairmanship over the previous year.

Government Chief Whip, Minister Mary Butler then chaired the election of officers with the following elected: John Flynn as Chairperson, Fiona Hennessey as Vice-Chair, Paudie Taylor as Honorary Secretary, Majella Walsh as Assistant Secretary, Seamus Troy & John Hartnett as Joint Honorary Treasurers, Colm Flynn as PRO & Events Officer, Ronan O'Connor as Membership Officer, and Jacqui Finnan as Women’s Officer.”

The following Honorary Presidents were elected: Mattie Finnerty, Labhrás Ó Murchú, Josie O’Dwyer, Michael Lonergan, Susan Meagher, Gus Bulfin, Michael Norris & Michael Maguire.

Minister Mary Butler then addressed the meeting.

She spoke about her role as Government Chief Whip and her work as Minister for Mental Health.

She also spoke about the recent Presidential Election and briefly outlined to members the nomination process prior to the election and the review which is currently underway.

She also expressed her deep respect for Taoiseach Micheál Martin and said that he has her full support.

MEP for Ireland South Cynthia Ní Mhurchú followed, addressing the members and spoke about the Presidential Election and her work in the European Parliament, particularly her work supporting farmers when it comes to the nitrates derogation, CAP budget, and her opposition to the Mercosur Beef deal.

Tipperary South's Senator Imelda Goldsboro then addressed members thanking them for showing up in such large numbers for the AGM, and thanked them for their support over the last year.

She spoke about her work since being appointed to Seanad Éireann earlier this year by Taoiseach Micheál Martin.

She gave examples of projects she helped deliver across South Tipperary and said: "This is just the beginning and I will continue to work hard right across the constituency and deliver for every local community".

The meeting was also attended by Cllr Siobhán Ambrose, Cllr Roger Kennedy, Cllr Micheál Anglim, Cllr Amy Goldsboro, and Cllr Sean Ryan.
