A man who died in an early-morning road crash in Birdhill over the weekend has been named locally as Daniel Cieslar, of The Lookout, Portroe, Co Tipperary.
Mr Cieslar, aged in his 40s, was the sole occupant of a car involved in a single-vehicle collision on the R445 in the early hours of Sunday morning. Emergency services were called to the scene, where he was sadly pronounced deceased. His body was later removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
The crash occurred between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses who were travelling on the R445 between Birdhill and Nenagh between 10pm on Saturday and 8am on Sunday to come forward, particularly those with dash-cam footage. Mr Cieslar is deeply mourned by his loving wife Magdalena, cherished children Sara and David, parents Helena and Jan, sisters Lidia, Estera, Miriam and Debora, brother Samuel, as well as by relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing will take place in Lynch’s Funeral Home, Killaloe, on Wednesday 12 November from 6pm to 8pm. His funeral will arrive to St Mary’s Church, Portroe, on Thursday 13 November for 11am Mass, followed by burial in Garrykennedy Cemetery. The Funeral Mass can be viewed online via a livestream link provided by the family.
The tragedy has left the communities of Portroe and Birdhill in deep shock. Friends have described Daniel as a devoted husband and father who worked hard for his family and was well-liked by all who knew him.
