A young girl from Tipperary will star in RTÉ’s ‘Unwrapped: The Toy Show Appeal’, which airs this weekend, on Sunday November 30.
Sophie Quirke, who hails from Mullinahone, has been in treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) since early 2023 and has faced years of chemotherapy, spinal procedures, biopsies and lengthy hospital stays with remarkable humour and resilience.
Funded through the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal, Oscar's Kids organised a pamper day for Sophie.

It was about giving her joy, glamour, surprises, and a powerful confidence boost after months of isolation. With her hype man James Patrice by her side she had a day in Dublin jam packed with helicopter rides, glamour and traitors!
The documentary aims to show viewers what funds raised during the toy show appeal are used for and what charities receive money.
Oscar’s Kids is an international paediatric cancer charity that honours the life of Oscar Keogh, a young boy from Ireland who died from an inoperable brain tumour.

Sophie’s mom Martina Quirke described how important charities like Oscar’s Kids have been to families like hers.
“This isn’t a typical day in the life of Sophie, being pampered and meeting stars like James Patrice.
“What the episode shows is the lengths that charities like Oscar’s Kids go to, to bring joy to children fighting cancer.
“The biggest surprise was we flew to Dublin by helicopter. It was amazing, the charity is just incredible. This Christmas they’re sending families who can go to Lapland.
“The sky is the limit when it comes to what Oscar’s Kids will do for children. Whatever the child wants, they will do it,” says Martina.
