LATEST: Almost €500,000 in funding granted for Tipperary community projects

Tipperary North TD Michael Lowry has welcomed a significant package of community investment announced by Minister Dara Calleary, confirming over €420,000 in funding for a series of important local initiatives across Tipperary and Kilkenny.

“This funding brings real momentum to community-led development,” Deputy Lowry said.

“Each of these projects represents the determination of local volunteers, clubs, and organisations to strengthen their area. Today’s announcement gives their work the support it deserves.”

The approved allocations include:

- €58,568 for upgrade works at Burncourt Community Hall;

- €62,363 towards stairs, handrail and kitchen facilities by the Donohill Development Council;

- €52,592 towards accessibility and service upgrades to the clubhouse by the Araglen Carnival Committee;

- €65,000 towards car park surfacing and footpath replacement by the Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA and Camogie Club;

- €50,724 towards lighting upgrades at Rearcross FC;

- €39,867 towards toilet upgrades at Knockshegowna Community Centre;

- €63,074 towards upgrade works at Knock Community Centre, Roscrea;

- €8,835 towards a sensory garden at Gortnahoe Community Playschool;

- €64,347 towards upgrade works at Drombane Community Centre.

The total funding comes to €465,369.

Deputy Lowry added: “These organisations are the heartbeat of their communities. This investment will have a lasting social impact, improving facilities, supporting participation, and ensuring communities continue to thrive.”

He concluded by thanking Minister Calleary for recognising the value of local, grassroots projects and reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for continued investment in Tipperary’s communities.
