Having moved from Cork to Clonmel 14 years ago, Elisa Henrys says her life has been deeply rooted in caring.
“From a young age, I cared for family members, and now I rely on a carer myself. Working as a community carer, I was continually struck by the young carers I met—their compassion, love and maturity far beyond their years.
“Baby Trex and Sadie is my way of shining a light on these often-unseen heroes.
“I hope the book encourages teachers, neighbours and family to offer support, recognising that even small gestures, like Sadie’s longer spoon for Baby Trex, can ease their burdens.
“The book highlights the often-overlooked contributions of young carers in Ireland and beyond, who selflessly support their families and friends.
“The story shows how small, playful solutions and acts of kindness can make a huge difference in a young carer’s life”.
