O'Kelly previously enjoyed success with Kilruane MacDonaghs, guiding them to county championship glory in 2022. He has been out of management since that breakthrough year, but his appointment marks a welcome return to the sideline.
The Toome native takes on the position of a team that has lost out in the previous two campaigns to eventual winners Loughmore Castleiney, and O'Kelly will be hoping to take the next step with the Greyhounds going forward.
He is expected to confirm his backroom team in the coming weeks ahead of the new year.
