Tipperary County Council is now drafting proposals for traffic calming measures on the road passing Moyglass National School after parents and local councillors highlighted their fears about road safety for children due to speeding traffic.
Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District Administrator Marie Cox confirmed traffic calming measures are currently being drafted for the L2303 road in Moyglass at the monthly meeting of the district’s councillors.
This followed a site meeting District Engineer Michael Scully attended in Moyglass with local public representatives to discuss possible safety measures outside the school.
Ms Cox said the proposed measures will be circulated to councillors before a funding stream for the project is selected.
Ms Cox was responding at the meeting to a motion calling for the road safety measures tabled by Labour Cllr Michael ‘Chicken’ Brennan and seconded by Cllr Mark Fitzgerald.
Cllr Brennan said he was happy with the response of council management to his motion.
