Residents of Cashel came together on December 14 for a special community Christmas tree decorating event on the Plaza, despite wet and blustery weather.
The occasion was the culmination of a festive initiative by local group Le Chéile Cashel, who had previously overseen the erection and lighting of the town’s Christmas tree earlier in the month.

The decorating event invited members of the public to bring their own baubles, ribbons, and decorations to add to the tree. Many of the ornaments were placed in remembrance of loved ones who have passed away or who are living far from home this Christmas, creating a deeply personal and reflective atmosphere.
The event was described as a moment of togetherness and reflection in the heart of Cashel. Local councillor Liam Browne praised Le Chéile Cashel for the initiative, noting that it had brought the community together in a thoughtful and uplifting way.
“This is what makes Cashel special,” he said, highlighting the value of local engagement and community-led projects in fostering connection and shared celebration.Civic initiatives strengthen community.
By combining remembrance with celebration, Le Chéile Cashel has created a tradition that builds community spirit.
