Ryan O’Meara TD has today warmly welcomed the announcement of over €1 million in funding for County Tipperary under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, announced by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, his Fianna Fáil colleague Dara Calleary TD.
The funding will support a range of projects aimed at revitalising town centres, enhancing local amenities and driving economic and social regeneration across the county.
In particular, Deputy O’Meara highlighted two significant allocations:
Nenagh Gaol Block – €500,000
This funding will support the renovation of the three-storey vacant Gaol block in Nenagh, transforming it into a high-quality visitor experience. The project will play a key role in stimulating economic and social regeneration within Nenagh’s Historic and Cultural Quarter and is fully aligned with Nenagh’s Town Centre First Plan.

Templemore Town Park – €112,950
This investment will enhance local biodiversity and significantly improve the overall visitor experience in Templemore Town Park. Works will include development of the car park, resurfacing of pathways, planting of native hedgerows and the creation of a tranquil picnic area for families and visitors to enjoy.
Welcoming the announcement, Deputy O’Meara said:
“This is a very positive day for Tipperary. The Town and Village Renewal Scheme continues to deliver real, tangible improvements in our towns, helping them to thrive as places to live, work and visit. I am particularly pleased to see major support for the Nenagh Gaol Block project, which will breathe new life into a key heritage building, and for Templemore Town Park, which will enhance biodiversity and quality of life for the local community.”
He added:
“I want to commend Minister Dara Calleary for his continued commitment to rural Ireland and for recognising the strong, well-prepared applications from Tipperary. This investment of over €1 million will have a lasting impact and demonstrates what can be achieved when local ambition is backed by national support.”
Deputy O’Meara concluded by thanking local authorities, community groups and project teams involved in developing the successful applications, noting that their work ensures Tipperary continues to benefit from targeted and meaningful investment.
