EDITORIAL: A thank you to our readers in Tipperary this Christmas

A year of triumph, tradition and the community spirit that defines Tipperary.

EDITORIAL: A thank you to our readers in Tipperary this Christmas

Here we are again at the end of another year. 2025 was a good year for Tipperary, and it is not over yet.

It was the year we will all remember being left in awe when the Tipperary hurlers played an amazing second half of the All Ireland Senior Hurling Final, which saw them ultimately win the Liam McCarthy Cup.

At this time of year it’s important to remember the work of our community groups, local authority staff and businesses, who do so much for the county each year.

We have especially enjoyed reading about your stories this December that really remind us that the Christmas spirit is alive and well in the Premier County.

Whether it was photos of children visiting Santa or a missing dog being found, Tipperary has always understood the value of community.

Through parish halls hosting carol services, GAA clubs organising Christmas fundraisers, or local schools bringing joy through nativity plays and concerts, there is a shared sense that no one should feel alone at this time of year.

These traditions are not old-fashioned relics, they are the backbone of our Christmas spirit. We’d like to thank all of our tireless local correspondents for all they do to keep us all up to date with what’s happening in our localities.

We’d also like to thank our readers who read the paper every week or even just check-in occasionally, we are grateful for your support.

So, a very happy Christmas from all of us at the Tipperary Star and The Nationalist.

Last year we gave a less festive reminder for readers to stay safe, especially on the roads. This reminder is still important to remember this Christmas. The county council and the gardaí have issued their appeals, but it’s worth saying again.

We very much want to see your pictures after the festivities are over and the plans for the New Year begin. So, mind yourselves.

Stay safe and well, and we will meet you back here next week.
