TNew toll charge increases come into effe ct on January 1
A Tipperary county councillor has hit out at the imposition of new toll charges for motorists that come into effect from Thursday.
Cllr Richie Molloy, an Independent councillor of Tipperary County Council, said motorists face new charges for tolls on some roads from January 1.

The announcement was made earlier this year, but will only come into effect from Thursday.
Cllr Molloy called on the government to stop allowing these increases as it constantly puts more and more pressure on the already hard-pressed motorists.

A 10 cents increase will be applied to drivers on the M50, unless you are driving with a tag or video account. The Dublin Port Tunnel will see the largest hike, an increase of one euro for southbound traffic between the hours of 6am and 10am on weekdays.Last year, €212 million was paid on an M50 toll. Tolls across Ireland in 2024 took €478,000,000, nearly half a billion from the Irish people.
